The first career was enterprise software; the second — the one I'm devoted to now — is teaching code. I teach Python, Java, C, C++, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Scratch and MIT App Inventor to middle- and high-schoolers, and introduce my senior students to Machine Learning and Generative AI — one on one, online, across time zones.
My path to the classroom wasn't a straight line. I trained in organic chemistry, then crossed into enterprise software — building Visual Basic and Oracle systems in Delhi, consulting for UNICEF in Nairobi, and coordinating international government technology projects — before an academic post redirected me toward teaching for good.
Today I teach coding exclusively: as Global Lead Instructor at Sanketana School of Code, I run 1:1 and small-group lessons in Python, Java, C, C++, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Scratch and MIT App Inventor, introduce older students to the foundations of Machine Learning and Generative AI, and prepare high-schoolers for AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles. In 2023 I also volunteered as a Section Leader for a Stanford University online program — one of many signs of the trust I've built with institutions as well as students.
My students log in from well beyond India — families in the USA, the UK, Singapore and the UAE rely on me for evening and weekend lessons that fit their own time zone, not just mine.
AI has changed what "knowing how to code" even means, so over the last couple of years I've started weaving Machine Learning and Generative AI into lessons for my older students — not just how to use the tools, but what's actually happening underneath them.
After a couple of years with the same student, the read gets easier — I learn to tell a mistake that means he's tired from one that means he's about to understand something. I believe that kind of judgment only comes from sitting beside someone, patiently, for a very long time.
A curriculum that grows with the student — from a first Python program, to a passing AP Computer Science score, to a working understanding of Machine Learning and Generative AI.
My first decade-plus was enterprise software; in 2020 that gave way to full-time computer-science education.
I'm based in India, teaching students across the USA, UK, Singapore, UAE and beyond — evening and weekend lessons scheduled around your own time zone. I'm currently taking new 1:1 students, from first-time coders to those ready for Machine Learning & Generative AI foundations.
